A second pattern has been placed on the board to the optimal position, in this case at the edge of the star

(Example B). In the carving list of the example, the new pattern is inline with the previous pattern. Placing

additional patterns would produce the same results.

With all the patterns placed on the board in the nal position, the last step is to group the patterns together.

In Example D, all the desired patterns

are selected and saved into a group. The

grouped patterns would then need to be

selected by group. After selecting the

group, the Make Pattern Icon (Figure

12.15) will be available. If the icon is still

grayed out, then the group has not been

selected as in Example E.
